Based in Poole with travel in the community – flexible
Lewis-Manning Hospice Care offers holistic care to local people living with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses and support for their carers. We are in a new, exciting phase of development, having opened a new base in the centre of Poole and taken our services closer to patients’ homes, opening satellite centres in East Dorset and developing our carer and bereavement support. We are now looking to expand our services further with hospice at home care and a drop-in information centre by introducing a Clinical Complementary Therapy Service.
We are looking for a Complementary Therapist to become part of our multidisciplinary team, working in our Day Hospice and in the community providing a variety of complementary therapies to our patients and carers. Reporting to the Day Hospice Manager, this role is responsible for assessing referrals, planning individualised treatment programmes, and providing a range of clinical complementary therapies to help relieve physical and emotional pain and positively impact on our patients’ wellbeing. This role will also be responsible for the recruitment, training, and supervision of a team of volunteers to support our complementary therapy work.
You will have a minimum of 3 years hands on experience preferably with the elderly, working with those with life limiting conditions or in a hospice or palliative care setting. You will be qualified to practitioner level in at least two of the following: Aromatherapy, Reflexology, Indian Head Massage and Lymphatic drainage massage. Alternative therapies may be considered in addition to these core treatments.
You will have excellent administration and IT skills, including experience with rotas, KPIs, data collection and research. The successful candidate will require knowledge and experience of day-to-day team management.
Although based at our day hospice in Poole, you will have a full driving license and be prepared to travel within the community, to patients’ homes and to our pop-up and mobile clinics across Dorset and to our satellite services in Wimborne, Wareham, and Swanage.
