Lewis-Manning Hospice Care is an independent charity that for the last 28 years has provided exceptional end of life care and support to patients and their families in Poole and the Purbecks. We are beginning an exciting new phase in the story of our hospice, having moved our services to Longfleet Road in Poole, with closer to home outreach to Swanage, Wareham and Wimborne. We are currently looking for a full-time (or part time) Lymphoedema Nurse Specialist to join our team providing a co-ordinated, high quality, patient-focussed Lymphoedema service for our patients.
This is an excellent opportunity for the right person and job related learning and development will be fully funded by our charity. The post will provide skilled care and expertise in lymphoedema management for all patients referred to our lymphoedema service demonstrating competent clinical judgement in deciding patient focused goals and plans.
Reporting to the Senior Lymphoedema Nurse Specialist, the post holder will educate patients, relatives and health care professionals on all aspects of lymphoedema management, demonstrating a positive and realistic attitude to the patient with cancer related lymphoedema to ensure that the physiological, psychosocial, spiritual and cultural needs of the patient and family are met.
Ideally, we are looking for a registered RGN or AHP with a relevant degree and ideally a post graduate qualification in a related subject with some specialist training in the management of lymphoedema. An approved manual lymphatic drainage qualification and a teaching qualification would be an advantage. You will have at least 3 years post registration experience and a minimum of 1 year in the related speciality with oncology or palliative care experience an advantage. This is a development post and we would encourage applicants with an interest in this area to apply.
Your energy and enthusiasm for your chosen speciality will be high and your interpersonal and communication skills outstanding with well-developed listening and counselling skills. You will be IT confident and have experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams. This role requires you to travel to our satellite provisions across the county.
