Our Dorset Hero

Recently, the team at Lewis-Manning Hospice Care nominated Debbie Tallick-Wyatt for the Individual Healthcare Worker award at the Dorset Hero Awards. Debbie is Lewis-Manning’s amazing Day Hospice Clinical Team Manager and we couldn’t think of anyone more deserving of this award and recognition!

Before joining Lewis-Manning in 2020, Debbie worked at Poole Hospital for many years. Her range of experience and knowledge, alongside her infectious enthusiasm and determination has resulted in the huge success of the Hospice’s ‘Anticipatory Care Model’ (Hospice at Home) with the aim to help and support our newly ‘diagnosed’ and ‘deteriorating’ palliative patients

Over the past 2 years, Debbie has not only brightened the days of many of her colleagues and patients, her hard work has also resulted in incredible feedback from local GPs, involved in the ‘Anticipatory Care Model’ project.

Debbie told us, “We focus on ‘what matters to a person’ not ‘what’s the matter with a person’, and I am absolutely thrilled that this care model has been so well received by the local healthcare community. It’s fantastic to know we will be able to help so many more people because of it, who without this service could feel isolated, frightened and helpless. Hearing all the positive feedback from the patients makes it all worth it.”

Debbie was shortlisted for this award and we would like to thank her for going the extra mile everyday.
