We understand that people will have lots of questions about the care we provide. There are often misconceptions surrounding hospice care. Here are some of the more commonly asked questions and answers!
How Do i get referred to the hospice?
You can be referred for care by your GP, Consultant, Hospital Staff, Macmillan Nurse, Community Nurse or other Specialist Nurse. If you feel you or someone you know may benefit from our care, please speak to a healthcare professional and speak to them about being referred to our hospice.
who can receive care at Lewis-Manning Hospice care?

Our important services are available to people across Poole, Purbeck and East Dorset, who have been diagnosed with a life limiting illness.

How long can i attend Day Hospice care?
We offer a 12-16 week programme to our patients, depending on need, to ensure we are fairly offering our services to as many people as possible in East Dorset.
Will my treatment be the same as if i went to an nhs facility?

All of our services are free of charge and operated by registered nurses who are supported by health care assistants.

Will i die if i go to the hospice?
People are often very frightened about going into or visiting a hospice. People visit our hospice at varying stages of their illness and it’s our job to help you cope and manage your life limiting illness in the best way possible for you. We will talk with you about your wishes and goals for your treatment, care and future. We will try and help you and your family and be there for you every step of the way.

We are based in Longfleet House, 56 Longfleet Road, Poole, Dorset, BH15 2JD
What items of furniture will we take as a donation
We are happy to receive all good quality furniture items but are unable to take duvet covers and pillows.

We have a car park with patient and visitor spaces.

How can i help Lewis-Manning Hospice care?

  • By donating good quality clothes and furniture you will help us in our local charity shops.
