The chief executive of Dorset’s independent charity, Lewis-Manning Hospice Care, Clare Gaille, has been appointed to a coveted position as External Advisor for the RCN Foundation.
The RCN Foundation is an independent charity that provides grants for hardship, as well as education and research that supports and strengthens nursing and midwifery. Clare has been selected to sit on the Income Generation & Investment Committee to support the organisation in achieving its strategic vision and ultimately to transform lives.
Jeremy Allin, chair of Lewis-Manning Hospice Care, said: “Clare’s appointment to the RCN Foundation is testament to her steadfast commitment to the industry and outstanding capabilities in fundraising and income generation.
“Clare cares deeply about enabling the very best health and wellbeing outcomes for people across Dorset and beyond. We see this every day in her work for Lewis-Manning, enabling patients to live and die well. Her appointment to the RCN Foundation will enable her to share her learnings, insights, and experience with nursing and midwifery teams across the country.”
Clare has been appointed for an initial three-year term, working with the RCN Foundation on a voluntary basis.
Deepa Korea, Director of the RCN Foundation said: “We are elated to have Clare join our Income Generation & Investment Committee as an External Advisor. Her extensive knowledge and experience within health care, and especially in fundraising, will be a huge asset to the Foundation. Clare’s skills and expertise will make a transformable difference to the nursing and midwifery professionals we support.”
Clare added: “It is an honour to be working with the RCN Foundation. In 2024 alone, the RCN Foundation supported over 3,000 individuals in the nursing sector. I know firsthand the positive impact nurses have on patients, society, and overall public wellbeing. Without them, our world simply wouldn’t function as it does. I am looking forward to giving more back to this crucial industry and helping the Foundation to further extend its support and reach.”
Lewis-Manning Hospice Care has been operated under Clare’s stewardship since 2019. In that time, the team has grown to over 100 staff and nearly 300 amazing volunteers, income has increased by over 400%, and most importantly the charity is now providing care for over 1,200 patients and their families in Dorset.
