Volunteer Voices – Meet Nikki
Nikki has been volunteering with us since January 2025, joining the charity on the very day our Ferndown shop opened. For Nikki, volunteering is much more than giving up a few hours each week, it’s her way of giving back.
When Nikki’s dear mum, Pam, was receiving end-of-life care with us at our former premises at Crichel Mount, the kindness and compassion shown by the Lewis-Manning team left a lasting impression. “The nurses and everyone who cared for Mum treated her with such dignity and respect. They also looked after me, making me feel welcome and comfortable every time I visited.”
Nikki remembers how much her mum enjoyed visiting the on-site hairdresser, and knowing she was in such a safe, caring environment brought great comfort during a very difficult time. Inspired by the care her family received, Nikki decided she wanted to support Lewis-Manning in return.
Today, Nikki volunteers across both our Ferndown and Ringwood retail charity shops. Whether she’s sorting donations, organising the book section, rotating stock, serving customers on the till or lending a hand at fundraising events, she’s always happy to help wherever she’s needed.
Volunteering has also become an important part of Nikki’s weekly routine. “I enjoy meeting people, talking to customers and being part of a team. It gets me out of the house and gives me something to look forward to each week.”
