Creative Arts & Wellbeing Support is a service we offer to support patients with concerns or challenges that may arise after being diagnosed with a life limiting illness. We offer a space to socialise with other like minded people, an opportunity to reflect whilst engaging in a relaxing activity. With support from our Creative Arts Team, you can explore a range of creative activities without being judged or us having any expectations.

Some of the benefits from Creative Arts & Wellbeing Support are:

  • Regaining some control at a time when life feels challenging
  • Giving a sense of achievement and purpose into your lives
  • Feeling valued
  • Meeting and socialising with people in a similar situation

Creative Arts & Wellbeing Support run throughout the week in several locations and all patients with life-limiting illnesses are welcome. We offer a range of creative activities and provide all materials. No prior knowledge or skills are required, just a willingness to have a go. Patients have enjoyed activities including painting, drawing, collage, jewellery making, paper mâché, working with clay, textile crafts, knitting and many, many more.

Also, if you have a creative activity of your own you want to pursue, we will support you with that too.

To celebrate some of the amazing artwork made, we have held art exhibitions at local galleries. This gave all involved a sense of achievement, feeling valued and a shared sense of purpose.

our patients say:

As the weeks go by I feel a lot more motivated to do something different. You have made me feel I have a purpose.”

“I enjoy seeing other people, meeting new friends made me realise just how easy things can be, learning about art, discovering new talents.”

Will I be charged for this service?

There is no cost to the patient to attend our Creative Arts & Wellbeing Support but we encourage people to donate however much they can, so that we can keep offering our extraordinary palliative care. As a registered charity, we rely heavily on the local community’s help, support and donations to keep Lewis-Manning Hospice Care running as we only receive 21% funding from the NHS.
