Here to help

Our Day Hospice’s purpose is to help people who have been diagnosed with a life-limiting condition, offering practical care and social support for our patients. It has a calm, relaxing and homely atmosphere and is a safe place for people to come and meet others in similar circumstances.

If you’ve been diagnosed with cancer or another life-limiting illness and are worried about how to cope and what your next steps should be, then our day hospice can help. Our highly trained nurses are always here to offer you help, support and advice.

Patients take part in a 12 – 16 week programme, filled with fun activities, socialising with other like-minded patients, creative arts and wellbeing therapy and many other things

Who can come & how do I get referred?

You will need to be registered with a GP surgery within East Dorset and have been diagnosed with a life-limiting illness. We will discuss your care with your GP, with your permission, before you attend.

You can be referred to Day Hospice by any health care professional directly linked to your care or you can refer yourself by calling 01202 708470.

Clinic opening times : Monday to Friday 10am-3pm

Will I be charged for this service?

There is no cost to the patient to attend our day hospice but we encourage people to donate however much they can, so that we can keep offering our extraordinary palliative care. As a registered charity, we rely heavily on the local community’s help, support and donations to keep Lewis-Manning Hospice Care running as we only receive 21% funding from the NHS.
