Lewis-Manning Hospice Care has launched a new RESTORE scar therapy treatment for oncology patients.
RESTORE scar therapy is a method of non-invasive physical therapy developed to treat scar tissue, fibrosis and adhesions after surgery using a specialist scar massage and fascial release, therapy tools and self-care advice to promote healthy recovery.
Lymphoedema Lead Nurse, Linda Sjollema said, “We are delighted to be able to offer this additional service which complements our existing therapies and makes all the difference to patients that have bad scarring following oncology surgery and need further help.
“We recognised the need for this additional therapy as we were finding it increasingly difficult to drain some areas that had heavy scarring. This was hampering the amount of drainage that was possible.
“The new technique has proven valuable to many therapists as was clear when we attended the training course. Emma Holly, Scar Therapy Director of RESTORE has a very good reputation in the Industry. We are confident that we are one of the few Lymphoedema Services that can offer this additional therapy to patients.
“We now offer this bespoke service at our Lymphoedema Clinics at AECC University College on Parkwood Road in Bournemouth and at the hospice on Longfleet Road in Poole.”
Linda concluded, “If anyone is interested in accessing this service, referral is through a GP, Consultant or Nurse Specialist.”
