Staff Spotlight Q&A with Emily, Data Analyst and Systems Manager
Emily joined Lewis-Manning Hospice Care in March 2022 and plays a vital role as our Data Analyst and Systems Manager. Her work is central to helping us deliver and improve the care we provide!
Q1) What does a typical day look like for you?
A typical day for me involves lots of spreadsheets, numbers, data, statistics and system management! Although my own work may not be the most exciting to some – the fact that it is in a charity setting means that there is always lots going on around me which means my days are rarely boring!
Q2) What are the most rewarding parts of your job?
Knowing that what I do every day is making a difference to people’s lives. In my role as data analyst, I get an added insight into exactly how much the care we give is making a difference as it’s reflected in the data that we are recording. Even though I am not giving the hands-on care, I know that the work I do is integral in Lewis-Manning being to be able to provide that care. I also really enjoy working with the people that I do. I work across both the clinical and fundraising teams; I see how hard everyone works and how everyone supports each other – it’s a great environment.
Q3) How does your work support the wider clinical and care teams?
My work managing the patient record system means that the clinical team have access to all the information that they need about their patients to be able to give them the best care possible. I make sure that everything system wise is set out in a way that facilitates the team in being able to do their jobs efficiently. If they have any technical issues I am always around and happy to help!
Q4) How do you unwind after a busy day at work?
After a busy day at work, I like to relax my brain by watching some soaps or reality TV. If I have enough energy left, I do enjoy a sea swim – in all weather, in fact, the colder the better! I also have 3 nieces and nephews that I often help look after. But I definitely would not class that as unwinding!
Thank you Emily for sharing your story 🌻
